There are a few different options that you can go about how to learn bookkeeping. You could go to a traditional college or sign up for one of the many online universities but what is the BEST way to learn bookkeeping?
This can be answered with one simple question. Are you looking to simply learn bookkeeping or have you ever considered running your very own bookkeeping business?
If the thought of having a bookkeeping business sounds intriguing then stick around and allow me to talk about why I feel this could be an excellent option for you.
No Experience Required
At first, the thought of starting up a new business venture may be very intimidating or just darn right scary to you. The good news is that there are businesses out there searching and, many times, begging for a great bookkeeper to swoop in and help them out.
Wondering if this is something that you can actually do is completely normal, after all, we are talking about a real business here. The good news is that it’s not nearly as bad as you may think it is. In fact, you can even do this without any previous bookkeeping experience.
The only thing that is required of you is a drive to be successful. As long as you realize that there is no boss looking over your shoulder to make sure that you are staying on task and that it is solely up to you to make sure you are doing the necessary things to succeed you will be fine.
The course that I will show you in a minute will teach you everything about how to do bookkeeping and start and run your own business. This can be done even if you have no clue as to what bookkeeping even is.
In addition to that, this can be accomplished in as little as 10 weeks. There have been students that have gone into this course knowing nothing about bookkeeping that have their first client even before they finish the course.
The Pay Is Excellent!
Did you know that according to Entrepreneur Magazine bookkeeping is the most profitable business to have? It’s true, in fact after going through this specific course you should average somewhere int the ballpark of $80 an hour!
If you figure in the fact that you can expect to spend approximately 3-4 hours per month per client you can begin to see the potential in having your own bookkeeping business. This is just an average to give you an idea of what you can expect.
You should also know that there are many students that charge much more than this. Imagine how your income would begin to grow with 10, 20 and 30 clients!
Another reason why it’s the most profitable business to run are the low costs involved with starting and maintaining your business. Outside of needing to have certain software (most of which this cost is passed on to your clients) and some office equipment there simply isn’t much that you will need to get going.
Freedom From Working At Home
For a majority of people, gone are the days of having a secure job during your working years. The good news is that it is 2018 and working from home is not only becoming widely accepted but is quickly becoming the new norm.
There is no shortage of reasons why working from home is so appealing to so many people. Spending more time with your family, no more commuting, tired of working to make someone else money, or simply independence. The list can go on and on.
The problem is many people simply don’t know how to go about it or they don’t believe that they can be successful. You may not be happy with your job but that is your comfort zone and that can be a very difficult thing to step out of.
To help determine if having your own bookkeeping business is right for you there are a couple of things that you first need to think about.
The first and most important thing that you need to do is ask yourself why you want to do this. Knowing your “why” is what is going to give you the drive to push through the tough times. Is your “why” one or all of the reasons above or is it something else.
When you figure out what your “why” is, you need to write it down and keep it where it is visible to you every day. Having that constant reminder of why you decided to do this to begin with is going to help keep you on track.
As far as your own bookkeeping business is concerned, if you are a complete newbie you are going to want to do your research. I, by no means, expect you to jump right without first exploring if a bookkeeping business is a good for you.
The reality is while anyone really can do this, a bookkeeping business is not for everyone. Awhile back I wrote an article on the 7 traits that make for a great bookkeeper. Feel free to check it out to see how many you are able to check off.
