Free is a great word, isn’t it? After all, who would like to receive something for free? In terms of getting some information about some of the free online bookkeeping courses, I think just about anyone can appreciate the value that this could provide for you.
If you are a complete newbie to bookkeeping it could be a decent way to kind of wet your whistle to see if you enjoy the process. Another reason could be to see if you have what it takes to move on to a full version of a particular course.
Keep in mind that free is going to mean that the material is going to be plain and watered down in most cases. After you check it out, you realize how much of a waste of time it was to even go through the content provided.

Let’s face it… nothing in life is free. Maybe I should say, nothing WORTHWHILE is free. That is unless whatever it is that you are searching for is an intro into something better. This is where free can work in your favor. Something for free, especially when it comes to learning about bookkeeping, can be a good thing for a couple of different reasons.
You May Or May Not Enjoy It
The idea of learning about bookkeeping may sound intriguing to you, but let’s be honest here, there is a lot to learn! You simply may not realize everything that goes into what a bookkeeper does until it’s too late and this is where some free content can work in your favor.
In my opinion, being able to check out, for free, what you will be doing or what is going to be expected of you as a bookkeeper is a must!
Why waste everyone’s time and money learning about becoming a bookkeeper only to realize you hate working with numbers or that it scares the crap out of you having to clean up someone else’s books? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to make an educated decision before having to pay for something?
It May Be Intimidating To You
You want to be able to enjoy what you are going to be doing as a bookkeeper so it’s important to know beforehand what goes into the process of bookkeeping and the expectations that are going to be required of you.
The last thing that you want is to be blindsided by the fact that there could be things you simply don’t want to do. Or maybe the thought of handling someone else’s books makes you cringe.
Maybe you think that you need to be some sort of math wizard to be able to do bookkeeping. Guess what… you don’t!
You need to have access to free information so that those kinds of preconceived notions can be squashed. If you were assuming you needed a degree in advanced calculus, you could have just missed out on something that you could have loved learning how to do it.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to gather all that information beforehand so that these types of situations can be avoided altogether?
There Are 2 Types Of Free
In my opinion, there are 2 different types of free that you will run into online. The first is the type of “free” where you are given a trial period. What this means is that you are required to enter your card information, then, after a set number of days, your card is usually charged automatically.
While this isn’t the way I would prefer to do things, as long as you are on top of the time frame that you have before you are charged there really isn’t anything wrong with it.
If this is the route you choose to go please make sure that you know beforehand how to cancel your trial and if there are certain criteria that you must meet.
Is it as simple as clicking a button to cancel? Is there easy access to a phone number? If you cannot find a simple way to cancel, run away from it as fast as you can.
I also like to look for wording such as “no questions asked” or “hassle-free” when it comes to canceling trials. The last thing you want is to have to tell the person you are talking to ten different times to cancel as they try to upsell you or convince you that you have not given it enough time.
The other type of free is when something is… well… Free!
No need to hand over your credit card or anything like that. No commitments of any kind. No need to worry about any kind of time frame. Simply request the information and that’s it.
Usually, the only thing that is required of you is to opt-in to some sort of mailing list. This shouldn’t be a big deal at all since it is much easier to unsubscribe to an email list than it is to cancel a trial. Also, email lists don’t cost you a dime either.
It’s a small price to pay to receive the free information, or training, that you have been searching for.
