Bookkeeper Business Launch Interview With Holly Ferris

By | October 2, 2017

When I did my review on Bookkeeper Business Launch awhile back, I was so impressed that I decided to dig a little deeper. What else could I do to show the legitimacy of this program? I decided to reach out to Kelly Perry, Director of Operations, to see if I could reach out to interview a few of the students that have already gone through the course.

To my excitement, she put me in touch with a few of them the next day. I hope that this first interview with full time bookkeeper, Holly Ferris, will help to ease any concerns you may have about Bookkeeper Business Academy.

Name: Holly Ferris

Age: 38

Location: New Orleans

Website: www.keeperinbalance.com

What was your first impression or thoughts of Bookkeeper Business Launch when you first stumbled upon it?

Too good to be true! (haha) But really, I liked that B3’s focus was on building a better life through a bookkeeping business. It could have been ANY business, craft or trade, it’s still about creating the life YOU want to live.

Were you worried that it might be a scam, if so, when did that change for you?

Of course! There are so many “get rich quick” scams out there. The free training videos did help ease some of my concerns but it wasn’t until after a lot of due diligence and several emails back and forth with Ben that I felt secure and confident. Ben’s confidence, enthusiasm (and money-back guarantee!) were enough for me.

What did you think of the training?

The training is extensive, in depth but easy to follow. I came to this training as a business owner of over 15 years. Being a business owner doesn’t make you a bookkeeper. I was learning things for the first time and it felt overwhelming. But it also felt very empowering!

Ben talks about the training being a 10-week course, how long did it take you to complete all the training modules?

I think I finished the course work in just under 10 weeks. I signed up around mid-July 2016 and finished right around the beginning of September. I didn’t set out to jump right in and fast track the training. But as I mentioned, I was learning things for the first time which was exciting. It was like reading a really great book…. Once you start you can’t put it down.

Did you find the training to be thorough?

I did. But it’s also not a one-stop shop. YOU have to do the work. A bookkeeping course doesn’t make you a bookkeeper, and certainly won’t make you a bookkeeping business owner. B3 will give you all the knowledge and tools you need to succeed. But you are still responsible for creating your ideal business (and life!).

How is the support within the community?

Worth the price of admission! I love this community so much. I say it all the time and it rings so true in our community, “Community over competition.” Whether you are just starting out or you’re a seasoned bookkeeping pro, this community is a safe and supportive place to share and grow. No question is left unanswered and there is NO judgment. I am proud to be part of this community of professionals.

Do you think that anyone can learn bookkeeping online? What kinds of traits do you think are needed when considering Bookkeeper Business Launch?

Yes and no. If you’re looking for a “get rich quick” or someone to hold your hand and give you a bookkeeping business, then no. If you are willing to do the work and be vulnerable, then absolutely YES! You need to be detail-orientated, organized and hard-working. But above all else, you must have a positive outlook on life. Times will get tough and you need a positive and healthy foundation to carry you through those harder times.

How long did it take for you to land your 1st client?

I landed my first client about 3 months after I completed my training. BUT, let me also say, I did NOT market or officially launch my bookkeeping business until January 2017! I spent most of those 3-4 months researching my niche, creating content and hiring a team to manage my other business.

Do you focus on a particular niche?

Yes! We work with creative entrepreneurs: copywriters, bloggers, social media managers, web designers, coaches… to name a few.

Is bookkeeping your full time job now or are you looking to turn it into a full time job?

My bookkeeping business is my full time gig right now! Thankfully I have a wonderful team supporting my other business. This gives me the peace of mind and focus I need to best serve our current bookkeeping clients and create more growth.

Looking back, what is your overall impression of Bookkeeper Business Launch?

It’s the best business decision I made for myself, EVER! B3 gave me the confidence to improve one business and start another. Sure, I gained a lot of bookkeeping knowledge, but the marketing knowledge is first class! And the community and support you gain, will take you further than any course work.

Any final thoughts, or any advice you could offer someone considering Bookkeeper Business Launch on why it would be a good move for them?

If you’re considering B3, then you’re probably interested in bookkeeping. Good start. If you want to create a business that supports your dreams and goals, and you’re ready to do the work and have a community of peers to cheer you on, then do not hesitate — SIGN UP NOW! We’d love to welcome you to our family.

So What Can You Do Now?

I wanted to first thank Holly for taking the time to answer questions about the course. The fact that she was willing share her thoughts should only solidify the legitimacy and thoroughness of the B3 program. If you have been searching for a way out of the rat race and start a business from the comfort of your own home and enjoy working with numbers then look no further!

This sounds like a great program. I’m not sure if it would be for someone like me. Do you have to have a strong math background, or does the course teach you all you need to know? Holly also mentioned she put a team in place to take care of her other businesses, does that mean you should be a seasoned business professional before starting, or can anyone achieve the level of success that Holly did?

      Thanks for the questions Jeff.

As far as the math background is concerned, you do not need a strong background.  That is actually a common misconception that is sometimes associated with bookkeeping.  Its a good idea to to know basic math to double check your work that the software does for you but that’s all.

All you really need is a joy of working with numbers.  Obviously this is important since this is basically what you will be doing as a career choice 😉

No, you do not need to have any sort of bookkeeping background to go through the course.  In fact, Ben, the creator of the course, actually talks about that if you do have previous experience that you will probably have to unlearn certain things.

The course is designed as though you know absolutely nothing about bookkeeping. It simply depends on your drive to do so.

    What an interesting interview!
I had never heard about Bookkeeper Business Launch and I’ll make sure to read your review of it.
But even though it’s all new for me, I got a strong feeling that it’s indeed a trustworthy program.
Some key aspects she mentioned that quickly convinced me: thorough training, money back guarantee and supportive community.
As an affiliate marketer, I know how those topics are important to anyone learning a new skill set to engage in a new career.
    Thanks for the valuable information.
